Trial Trip to Bellingham, Washington

We just got back from a two week camping trip to Bellingham, Washington, where the boys went on a Beneteau sail boat for two days in the San Juan Islands. Total drive was about 2,500 miles. The journey was excellent preparation for our trip ahead as we now have a better idea of what we really need to bring with us.

We leave for Spain in about two weeks, although it's still uncertain exactly when because we are waiting for Carmen's passport from the UK embassy in LA. It's my fault that we are still here as I sent it off to them as part of a "wife settlement" application for the UK so that we could potentially live in the UK. The application is somewhat moot as Carmen has stated on many occasions that she has no desire to live there. Our tickets are booked for next Monday the 21st to Dublin on Aer Lingus (and from there Ryan Air to Girona), but we will likely end up changing the schedule.

Good news is that my brother Nick who lives nr. London has offered us his place for two weeks in September, so we will have a place to stay while showing the boys Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, visiting Dad and Indu in Hove, and sorting out our RTW tickets. He will be in the States and then we hope to overlap a couple of days to see them before going back on a camping trip around Spain/Europe. The plan is to purchase a second hand car in Spain and drive up to UK in September through France, put the car on the ferry or train to go to the UK.
